Message (交流会の趣旨)

  At this exchange program, PhD students will deliver in-person research presentations to participants from companies and research institutions, and opportunities will be provided for companies and other organizations to present to the students. Through these activities, the event aims to contribute to the development of highly skilled research personnel, who will be increasingly in demand in the future. PhD students have chosen to pursue their doctoral studies and take on this challenge because they believe it is a path worth dedicating their lives to. To support this, the government provides grants to cover living expenses and research costs, enabling young people who have completed doctoral programs to thrive in various fields such as academia, industry, and public administration. Under such circumstances, this exchange program brings all relevant parties together, offering students an opportunity to learn about the qualities sought by companies and other organizations, the working styles of researchers, and the realities of research within corporate settings. On the other hand, for companies and other organizations, it serves as a venue to directly convey the qualities they seek to university faculty and students. Through collaboration fostered by this exchange program, we aim to lead the way in an era that demands highly skilled research talent.

   本交流会では、博士後期課程学生が、企業および研究機関からの参加者を相手に研究発表を対面式で行い、また、企業等が学生にプレゼンする機会を設けます。このような活動を通じて、今後ますます必要となる高度な研究人材の育成に資することを目的としています。博士後期課程の学生は、自らの人生を賭けるに値するとして、博士後期課程に進学し、挑戦に踏み出しています。政府は、これを応援すべく、博士課程を修了した若者が、アカデミア、産業界、行政など様々な分野で活躍できるよう、給付型の生活費および研究費支援を行っています。このような中、本交流会は関係者が一堂に会する場を提供することで、学生にとって企業等が求める人物像、研究者の働き方、企業等における研究の実態を知る機会となり、一方、企業等にとっては、貴機関が求める人物像を、大学教員や学生に直接伝える場となります。交流会を通じた連携により、高度な研究人材が求められる時代をリードしていきたいと考えています。

To companies (企業の皆様へ) 

The purpose of this exchange program is to foster highly skilled research professionals—who will be increasingly in demand—through collaboration between universities, companies, and research institutions such as national research institutes. Participants in this event will be first- and second-year PhD students primarily from the fields of natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry), engineering (materials, devices, information), and life and environmental sciences. This year, the event will be held in person at the newly opened “Future Society Design Complex” on the Tsukuba Campus. In addition to research presentations by PhD students, we will provide opportunities for representatives from companies and research institutions to present to the students. This will serve as a forum for your organization to directly convey the qualities you seek in candidates to university faculty and students. We kindly request that you participate in pairs consisting of a recruitment representative and a researcher, if possible. 

本交流会の目的は、大学と企業および国研等の研究機関とが協力することで，今後ますます必要となる高度な研究人材を育成することです。本交流会に参加するのは、理学系（数学、物理、化学）、工学系（材料、デバイス、情報）、生命・環境系を中心とする博士後期課程の1,2年次の学生です。今年度は、筑波キャンパスに新しく開設した未来社会デザイン棟において、対面式で開催します。学生の研究発表だけでなく、企業・研究機関の皆様が学生にプレゼンする機会があります。貴機関が求める人物像を、大学教員や学生に直接伝える場となります。できれば採用担当者と研究者のペアでご参加いただくことをお願いします。

To students (学生の皆さんへ)

This exchange program offers PhD students the following opportunities. We hope you will find them useful for your future research.

1.Understanding what companies and national research institutes are looking for in PhD students.  

Through discussions with researchers and recruiters from various organizations, this event provides an opportunity to learn what is expected of researchers, how researchers work, and how research is conducted. 

 2.Gain a broad perspective on your research 

This is an excellent opportunity to understand the context and strengths of your research and to re-examine it from a broader perspective. Unlike presentations at academic conferences, it is crucial to consider how to effectively communicate your research to people from different fields within a limited time frame. You will need to find ways to effectively convey the background, unique aspects of your research methods and data analysis, and your own insights. 

本交流会は、学生の皆さんにとり、次のような機会となります。その後の研究に役立ててください。 

１．企業や国研等が博士課程学生に求めることを理解する 

企業等の研究者、採用担当者とのディスカッションを通じて、研究者に求められていること、企業等での研究者の働き方、研究の進め方を知る絶好の機会です。 

２．研究を俯瞰する 

研究の社会的位置づけや強みを理解し、俯瞰することは、研究を進める上で最も重要なことです。学会での発表とは異なり、限られた時間の中で、異分野の人に、自分の研究をどのように伝えるかが重要です。背景や研究方法・データ解析における独自のポイント、自分の考えが伝わるような工夫が求められます。
